Valley Local School District Cell Phone Policy
In compliance with Ohio law, students are prohibited from using cell phones during the instructional day (including classes, transitions, recess, lunch, and most field trips). Phones must be stored in lockers or secure district-provided storage, with exceptions only for documented medical needs. The policy cites research showing cell phones can harm learning and mental health. Violations lead to escalating disciplinary actions, and repeated offenses may result in loss of technology privileges.
