Gene Tenace

Congratulations Gene Tenace from Valley Local School District and the Lucasville Community! Gene is a 1965 Valley High School Graduate and has been inducted into the Oakland A's Hall of Fame.  Born Fiore Gino Tennaci, Italian-American, Gene was drafted by the Kansas City Athletics directly out of Valley High School. Gene played for the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Gene was one of the top catchers of his era and won the 1972 World Series Most Valuable Player Award.  Gene has 6 rings in 6 World Series appearances as a player and coach.
